THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) - Valentine's Day is upon us and florists in the Rose City are preparing for their biggest day of the year.

Thomasville Flower Shop has extra help come in each Valentine's Day to arrange flowers, and help deliver the gifts. With hundreds of orders to fill, Jim McRae has to order plenty of extra blooms.

Despite being in the "Rose City," this flower shop doesn't use locally-grown roses. Instead, the flowers are shipped from Ecuador or another South American location, because of the high quality.

Of course, imported flowers, plus the busy time, equals a high price for all.

"It's the simple supply and demand. The growers know the demand is high so their price is going to go up on Valentine's Day. Literally they will go right back down the next day after to a normal price," said Jim McRae, President of Thomasville Flower Shop.

The days leading up to Valentine's Day are spent preparing the hundreds of arrangements here at Thomasville Flower Shop. Of course, on Thursday, that's when these arrangements will be delivered to their recipients
