TALLAHASSEE, FL.(WTXL)-- A local organization gave back to the community Saturday by giving a single mom a new place.
The build was all apart of Habitat for Humanities, National Women Build event that kicked off in May. It challenges woman to devote at least one day to help build affordable housing in their local communities.
The United States Census says more than 16 million children lived in poverty with nearly 24 percent residing in single parent homes. That's why Habitat for Humanity says this build was so important to them and empowering to women.
More than 300 Tallahassee women participated in the project this year.
