TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Local faith leaders held a special press conference Tuesday morning at Bethel AME Church to announce two city-wide initiatives.

More than a dozen ministers in the capitol city said they were standing together to help those less fortunate.

"All of us have persons who have called us and said, 'Reverend, I'm a senior. I'm on a fixed income. I don't have money to do X, Y, Z. And guess what? All of these pastors will extend themselves and make a difference by saying, 'We understand your plight,'" said Reverend Dr. Julius McAllister, senior minister at Bethel AME.

The faith leaders also said they knew many people were frustrated. Some even admitted they weren't sure their own churches would have power Sunday morning. But they were vocal in their support of the Mayor and his team, saying politics needs to take a back seat to the needs of the people.

A community unity meeting has been set for Sept. 12th and is open to all residents to share and discuss what needs they have. It is set to be held at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church at 6 p.m.
