TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - These hot temperatures combined with high humidity levels can quickly turn into dangerous situations, especially for anyone planning to head outdoors over the weekend.
Health professionals say the first thing you need to be aware of is how your body is reacting to the conditions, and knowing when to take a break.
"Heat exhaustion is you on your way to a heat stroke. But you're aware of it, okay so you're starting to feel more sluggish, you're getting tired, your not just recovering really well you might be feeling dizzy feeling weak, maybe even nauseated," said Meredith Koomson, an Internal Medicine Doctor. "Heat stroke is a much more serve form of heat illness. So heat stroke at that point many people become confused, lethargic to the point that they aren't responsive."
She says heat stroke is when people reach the point of confusion and become unresponsive.
They also say it's important to watch the other people around you and check to see if they are hydrated as well.
