TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- Imagine hiking 3,000 miles, that's what one local couple is doing to raise money for a very special organization that help kids fighting cancer.

Their six month journey is more than your average trip of a lifetime.

For Will Rogers and Kate Mieslinger, AKA "Footprint" and "Lapsang," hiking a few dozen miles is basically a walk in the park.

Using their passion for hitting the trails, this dynamic duo is raising money for Camp One Step. An organization that takes kids battling various forms of cancer, and gets them outdoor.

From snowboarding, to hiking, to white water rafting, Camp One Step lets these kids just be kids.

Rogers and Mieslinger chose this organization because they believe life shouldn't end with a diagnosis. And at Camp One Step, these kids live each day to the fullest.

It costs $1,000 to send one child to Camp One Step for a week.

On their blog, Rogers and Mieslinger have already raised enough money to send one kid to camp. Now they're about to hike The Continental Divide Trail to help give at least six more kids their own outdoor adventure.

The slogan for the 3,000 mile trail, which runs from Mexico to Canada, is "Embrace the Brutality."

They plan on embracing it and bringing home $6,000.

In the end, it's all to give children battling cancer a chance to go on enriching adventures they'll never forget.
