TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- U.S. Representative Gwen Graham was in the Capital City Tuesday to recognize local businesses that recruit and employ veterans.
With more than 58,000 veterans living in Florida's 2nd Congressional District, Graham said supporting veterans is one of her top priorities. Her office is asking businesses to fill out a special form to receive an "I Hire Veterans" certificate they can display.
"Recognizing the incredible skill sets that veterans bring back to our community - that they're ready to serve, and serve in such a productive and already so well-trained fashion is what we need to be taking the opportunity to do," Graham said.
"In the military today, you have plumbers, you have lawyers, you have engineers," said Val Grissom with Career Source Capital Region. "You have a versatile choice of careers, and all of those skills, the leadership skills and abilities, they transfer over into the civilian world."
"I'm so proud and honored to be able to help and work on behalf of some of the best Americans that our country owes a debt of gratitude to," Graham said.
In addition to this program, local veterans are invited to a "Paychecks for Patriots" career expo at the Florida National Guard Armory on November 19.
