TALLAHASSEE Fla. – The owners of Higher Ground Bicycle Company in Tallahassee have combined their knowledge of cycling with their passion for the sport of golf to develop a brand new product. A bicycle specifically designed to be practical for a golfer while also being respectful to the golf course.
Designer Todd May admits that at first the idea drew mixed reactions. “When you first tell people about it there’s some resistance. Then when people see it on the course and see how it’s designed they have a different reaction.”
The golf bike recently made an appearance at the PGA trade show in Orlando where it received a lot of attention from golf professionals.
“I think the industry takes a look at this product as a way to bring more fun to the game and then bring more people in to the game” adds May.
The bike has been tested at Killearn Country Club in Tallahassee and club general manager Lori Wilkey sees a future where the golf bike would be available to members.
“I look at this game changing product as ultimately another amenity that we can offer our members to that golfer that’s looking to incorporate fun, speed, pace of play, so I’m excited about it”
