TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Local resident Erwin Jackson is calling out Tallahassee city officials, saying they used city equipment and tax payer dollars illegally.
Jackson held a news conference Tuesday calling out, specifically, Tallahassee mayor Andrew Gillum, city manager Rick Fernandez, and Michelle Bono, the special assistant to former the city manager.
In documents compiled by Jackson, he highlights four cases in which he says city resources were used in violation of the city's policy on underground utilities, which states that all repairs needed between the water meter and the house is the responsibility of the property owner. According to the documents, repairs were made by city employees to the personal homes of Fernandez, Gillum, and Bono.
Jackson says he will be sending the documents to the FBI, FDLE, and the IRS.
Tallahassee mayor Andrew Gillum responded to these allegations Tuesday in a statement to WTXL saying:
"This absurd and patently false allegation is more from the same pathetic sideshow that we've been dealing with for years. This community is facing real issues and that's where my focus will remain."
Michelle Bono also issued her own statement to WTXL:
"As an 19-year city employee, and in my personal life, I believe that ethical behavior is not only expected, but required. As a city resident and customer of City Utilities, I have called them about service related questions and recall asking about water pressure some years ago. I knew they responded and said they addressed the problem. I did not authorize and absolutely would not request or want any service provided for me that was not something provided to every other customer. I have a longstanding personal commitment to public service and integrity."
