TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Florida Motorsports say that looters took a sledge hammer to their front door during Irma and are asking for help identifying them.

According to owners, the incident happened just before 1:30 a.m.

They say a group of looters took a sledge hammer to the front door. Luckily for the owners, a metal bar across the door stopped them from taking anything and an alarm scared them away.

Unfortunately, the looters antics likely caused and excess of $2,000 in damage.

The business owner says they're looters taking advantage of the Irma situation.

"We were all home with our families during the storm, preparing our houses, staying up late with our families," said Kent Johnson, the owner of Florida Motorsports. "The last thing we want to worry about of course is our jobs and business. It's really concerning to find out as hard as we all worked to prepare for a loved ones, someone is breaking into our livelihood and taking advantage of it. It's horrible."

Johnson is hoping other people in the area may have seen the looters and can help identify their faces or provide police with a license plate number.
