TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A local art festival is bringing a new look to art in Tallahassee.

621 Gallery is opening the doors for the Laptop Sockhop: Art and Tech Fest Festival on Friday.

The two day event kicked off Friday at 1 p.m. with art and technology exhibitions and then Friday evening workshops from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. and then the activities for Friday night wrap up with some electronic music from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m.

Several local artists applied to have their work showcased. The mixed media video installations and conductive art display are bringing a new look to traditional art.

"Without places like this your community is not as dynamic. It really needs to have this kind of life in it. to make it an exciting place to live," said Carrell Courtright. "We want Tallahassee to be exciting."

To check out all of the art over the next two days, admission is between $10 to $15 dollars.
