(WTXL) - Officials are announcing shelter openings in the Big Bend area:

LEON COUNTY:

Officials announced Monday afternoon that several shelters are opening up in Leon County at noon on Tuesday:

Chiles High School - Pet friendly

The following shelters will open on Tuesday at 3 p.m.:

Suwannee Intermediate School - Special Needs Shelter

Suwannee Elementary School - General Population

Branford Elementary School - General Population

MADISON COUNTY:

Madison County Central School (2093 US-90, Madison, FL 32340) will open Tuesday at 2 p.m. as a risk shelter and special needs shelter. You MUST BRING pillows, blankets and comfort items with you to the shelter. 

For those who plan to bring pets, you MUST provide copies of vaccinations, all pet supplies and understand that pets are housed AWAY from the general shelter.

JEFFERSON COUNTY:

In preparation for Hurricane Michael, Jefferson County EM will be opening a shelter effective 12 p.m. Tuesday at Jefferson Somerset School (50 David Road, Monticello, FL 32344).
