TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- The number of people suing the owners and managers of the Northwood Centre has grown to more than 20, all claiming airborne mold and animal feces made them sick.

The plaintiffs include former and current state workers.

The amended complaint states, that beginning in 2006, the property began to sustain damage from water, bat feces, human waste and leaking roofs. The suit says these issues created unsafe working conditions.

The lawsuit also says toxicologists advised no one should go into certain offices.

Then in 2007, employees claim to have  started having medical problems.

Attorneys state the owner and managers' duties are to keep workers safe, but they were negligent by not making them aware of the problems or making the proper repairs.

"First I am just hearing about how sick everybody is, and everybody is coughing, and you know they just, they don't, they wish they were moving out sooner, they wish that they were not there," said attorney Ryan Andrews.

Sachs Communications on behalf of the owners of the property tells us the attorney for Northwood Associates will be reviewing the lawsuit, and will respond at the appropriate time through court filings.

Northwood Associates also issued this statement:

"The owners and managers of Northwood Centre place an overarching priority on the health, safety and well being of anyone who works or visits the property. In the past year, we have conducted a wide range of environmental tests of Northwood Centre and have found no evidence of widespread issues that would affect public health. We are in the process of conducting additional environmental tests and based on the scientific evidence resulting from those tests, we will be developing a plan to move forward with any needed corrections. We are committed to this property and to Tallahassee, where we have been a significant property tax payer and member of the business community for the past eight years."
