TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - On Sunday, the University Club Center hosted the 14th annual Paula Bailey Dining in the Dark.

The event had people eat dinner in pitch black to that they can experience what it is like to be visually impaired.

About 250 people attended and the CEO of Lighthouse of the Big Bend said these types of events can help other's gain a better understanding of what it's like to have vision loss.

"Based on the latest census, in the Big Bend we have about 20,000 people who have indicated they have some vision loss, so these are our friends and neighbors. These are people who may not be willing to say "I am having trouble seeing", so hopefully when they leave tonight they have a better understanding of what other people are going through," said CEO Kimberly Galban.

Lighthouse of the Big Bend hopes to raise 40,000 dollars to help people with vision loss.
