Liberty County, Fla.-- A North Florida sheriff is now out of jail after being booked June 4 on charges of official misconduct.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement says Nicholas Finch released a resident from jail who had been arrested for carrying a concealed weapon. They say he then either removed or destroyed the records associated with the arrest.
Finch was elected sheriff in Nov. 2012, but has now been removed from his position. Florida Governor Rick Scott has appointed Carl Causey as interim sheriff.
