LIBERTY COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Liberty County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about different scams happening in the area.

They say they have had a lot of calls over the past weeks of scams involving either someone purchasing something from a resident through one of the local yard sale sites or a resident "winning" a prize of some type.

In each call, the suspect ties to get residents to cash a check and return part of the money back to them. Deputies say the check will bounce and victims will lose their money.

LCSO says they have also had a few calls about an IRS tax scam where suspects claim to have a warrant for your arrest for a "tax violation" and request that you send them money to pull the warrant.

Deputies remind residents that the IRS will never call you on the phone about a tax bill and the sheriff's office will never take money to get rid of warrants.
