TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Leon High School student is selected to be the next student member of the Leon County school board.
Carlton DiSalvo will take over the position from Erin McCord, a Lincoln High student.
Erin's last school board meeting will be May 12.
DiSalvo was selected by a committee from 12 nominees that interviewed for the position.
He will be the 23 student to sit on the Leon County school board, and the first one from Leon High in nearly 10 years.
DiSalvo will help represent the 34,000 students who attend Leon County Schools.
DiSalvo says he already has plans for his new position, hoping to work with Honor Flight in Tallahassee.
"It's a big project that helps our veterans in the local area. We can send them to the memorial up in Washington," DiSalvo said. The student also says he plans to bring schools in from all over Leon County to support the project.
