TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - In the past year, more than 2.4 million visitors came to Leon County, making six years of consecutive tourism growth.
That's according to new numbers released by Leon County Officials.
Those visitors are coming from 47 states and 36 countries, generating $963 million to local businesses. Officials say this year's tourism numbers account for just over 11,000 jobs in the county.
Just over $30 million of revenue came from sports events and team training, such as the British Olympic Association Dive Team Training coming to the capital city this month.
Lee Daniel, the Executive Director of Tourism Development, says the County is already planning on they'll top this year's numbers;"We rolled out a new brand identity, a new logo, that we think will better depict who we are as a destination. We've got new technology that we've implemented that will speak to our guests when they're at our hotels and attractions. Florida is doing very very well, but we've actually had a better year in 2015 then a lot of our other counter parts around the state. Hopefully 16 will be our 7th year of record tourism. "
The county also has plans to expanded online advertising ventures, and increase promotions for outdoor recreation.
