Leon County Sheriff to Visit White House

TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Leon County Sheriff Mike Wood will be visiting the White House to attend a briefing on the President's Task Force on 21st Century Policing report. 

The report, which was completed in May 2015, makes recommendations and discusses issues related to policing and community relations. Law enforcement professionals from around the nation are expected to be in attendance. 

"As the Sheriff of Leon County, the capital county of the fourth largest state in the United States, I welcome this discussion," said Sheriff Wood. "I also proud of the fact that Leon County and the Leon County Sheriff's Office are leaders in the field of law enforcement and community relations."

Wood is scheduled to be in Washington D.C. on Aug. 4.
