TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Law enforcement officers say car thefts in many cases are a very preventable crime, but many Leon County residents are still becoming victims.
Leon County Sheriff Walt McNeil visited the WTXL studio to tell us more about these on-going crimes and ways to prevent them.
Here are some tips:
-Lock your doors
-Do not leave your vehicle running while unattended and unlocked
-Do not leave your keys or a spare key in or around the vehicle
-Remove your valuables from plain sight in the vehicle
-Park in well-lit public areas
-Do not leave your keys on peg boards in public areas such as gyms
-Equip vehicles with alarms or visible anti-theft devices
-Leave your windows rolled up when left unattended
