Tallahassee, Fla. (WTXL) - Leon County Sheriff's Office makes drug arrests near elementary school.

Leon County Sherriff's Office VICE Unit has arrested Jamaal A. Mitchell 30, for several charges related to the sale of crack cocaine near a Leon County School.

During the course of their investigation, LCSO VICE detectives were able to make two purchases of crack cocaine from Mitchell at a residence in the 1300 block of Indiana Street.

The residence is just one block east of Riley Elementary School.

Yesterday, detectives served a search warrant on the residence and located an amount of crack cocaine indicative of cocaine sales.

During the search warrant Mitchell was taking into custody without incident.

He was then transported to the Leon County Detention Facility.

“The safety of our children is paramount. For an individual to be engaged in the selling of poison just steps from our most precious resource is unacceptable. We will continue our efforts to rid our community of this awful drug so that our children will have a brighter future,” stated Sheriff McNeil.
