LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Shelters are popping up all across North Florida, as evacuees continue to pour in from the south.

In Leon County, the Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross and Leon County, opening an evacuee shelter at Northwoods Baptist Church.

The church opened up for people around 9 a.m. on Friday.

Bryce Anthony, from Pinellas County, says the travel up to Tallahassee was not easy, but he was 100 percent clear with his survival plan.

"Had extra gas cans, got up here no problem," said Anthony. "There was limited gas supplies all the way up. Limited hotel, Air BNB, places to reside. We actually stayed in the Walmart parking lot last night in the truck."

Officials say the shelter at Northwoods Baptist Church is also pet friendly.
