TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Leon County is asking for nominations for the "Glenn J. Winuk Humanitarian Service Award", given out annually in remembrance of 9/11.
It is in honor of Winuk's death at the world trade center in 2001. He was a volunteer firefighter and EMT that raced to New York City following the attack, to help survivors.
The winner of this year's award will receive $1,000 to be given to a charity of their choice.
It's open to anyone who has demonstrated exemplary service to the community, and is not limited to only first responders.
