TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Leon County School system is back at it. This morning, the school system relaunched its Million Book Challenge at Pineview Elementary after successfully completing the challenge last year.
This year, however, Superintendent Jackie Pons is hoping to shake up the challenge with a new twist. He says the school system has gotten approval from Guinness World Records to attempt a world record for the most parents reading to their children at the same time.
The current record stands at 427, but Leon County schools is hoping to outshine it by having 507 parents participate.
During last year's Million Book Challenge, students in Leon County schools read a total of 1.5 million books.
