LEON COUNTY, FL (WTXL) - Leon County schools are taking time out on Tuesday to recognize Partners for Excellence, which are community organizations and businesses that contribute to and promote education in the area.
Tuesday, the Council on Culture and Arts (COCA), in Leon County, was named Outstanding District Partner of the Year for their work with Leon County students.
All of the businesses that were recognized, give to students in different ways, something that Superintendent Jackie Pons said was great for the district in the long run.
"Here's something for everybody. You know a lot of the business give monetary donations to the school. They [COCA] volunteer their time they judge history fairs, whatever is called upon the business community, they support our school system," said Jackie Pons.
More than 600 local businesses are a part of the program.
