TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Leon County School officials said that they are proceeding with an investigation into Superintendent Jackie Pons after the school board received anonymous information hinting at alleged misconduct.
The Leon County School Board received the anonymous information on Nov. 2 and officials said that the matter is currently under review.
Chris Petley, a spokesperson for Leon County Schools, said that although no one had complained, the board chose to follow protocol and the information was forwarded to the school board attorney.
He said that the attorney is now in the process of hiring outside investigators.
"As the matter is currently open, no records or further comment will be released at this time," said Petley.
All documents will remain confidential until the investigation is finished.
We got in contact with Pons, and he said he requested that a third party investigate the allegations.
He does not personally know what the allegations against him are, saying he hasn't had a chance to look at them.
Pons said that the district has a policy with what to do with anonymous allegations and they are following that policy. He thinks the investigation will move quickly and he will comment further once the investigation is over.
