TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Wednesday was dad's turn to take the kids to school.
That's right, Wednesday was officially "Dads Take Your Child to School Day" in Leon County.
The Florida Department of Education has observed the event for three years. The event got its start in New York in 2004. Any male figure in a child's life is encouraged to take him or her to school today.
A video from last year's day shows dad's doing more than just dropping their kids off.
The men get to step inside their child's world with activities and refreshments.
Superintendent Rocky Hanna says it's a way to get father's engaged into what their kids are learning in school.
