TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Wednesday was a big surprise for one Leon County teacher.
Jennifer Powell found out in front of her students and district leaders Tuesday morning that she is teacher of the year.
"Oh my gosh, I am overwhelmed and elated and so super grateful for this recognition," said Powell, who teaches economics & government at Chiles. "I really appreciate it."
Powell earned three degrees from Florida State University.
Joe Burgess, principal of Chiles High, says Powell is a great teacher who makes kids want to learn and staff members respect the way she tirelessly works for the school.
Congratulations to Miss Powell!
