LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Kids in Leon County will be heading back to school in just a few weeks. For some parents, it is time to start thinking about vaccinations.
Nurse Anne Waltz says Florida requires what is called a Blue Card, which tells the school system that the student in question has satisfied their immunizations requirements.
Some of the vaccinations required include the Polio vaccine, Measels and Mumps as well has Hepatitis B.
Waltz says if a child is not vaccinated before school starts, they can be issued a temporary medical exemption, but they must get the rest of their shots by the time the exemption expires.
