TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The community gathered together on Wednesday to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

We're just days away from the national holiday "Martin Luther King Jr. Day."

Tallahassee residents filled the Leon County Court House to pay tribute to all the accomplishments Dr. King made.

The celebration consisted of a musical tribute, speeches, award presentations, and a time to reflect.

The President of the MLK foundation expresses why its important to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

"Martin Luther King had a dream and that dream was to make all persons equal and we're trying to keep that dream alive. He gave his life fighting for this dream. We're here to do what we can to make sure that dream doesn't go to sleep on us," said Stephen Beasley.

To continue the celebration, The Bethel AME Church is hosting the "MLK 49th City wide Celebration" this Sunday at 4 p.m.
