Leon County Officials Meet with Miccosukee Residents to Discuss Improvements

MICCOSUKEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Leon County officials said they are preparing to make improvements to small community in north eastern Leon County.

Miccosukee is a small community that's home to co-ops and historical sites.

Leon County officials said that they want to make improvements to the area, and on Thursday, they reached out to neighbors to get their thoughts.

For the next three days meetings are being held to make plans for installing new roads, building stores, and the possibly of raising property taxes.

Barry Wilcox, the division manager for comprehensive planning said, "The intent is to meet with the folks in the community understand how the Tallahassee planning department and Leon County as whole can serve the Miccosukee community and give it a greater sense of place."

The Miccosukee Public Input meeting will continue to run through to Saturday, when a session from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. will take place at the Miccosukee Community Center.
