LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - This week is National Lifeline Awareness Week and Leon County wants to make sure residents know about the resources they can use to get help.
The Lifeline Assistance Program provides discounts to anyone who can't afford a phone line or broadband.
This is to make sure everyone can contact help during emergencies.
The Florida Public Service Commission hosted an information session Thursday for residents to learn about the Lifeline Assistance discounted telephone and/or broadband service program.
"It helps low income residents stay connected to their families more importantly, connected to the community and emergency services," said Cindy Muir.
There are some eligibility requirements for the program.
