LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - All seven Leon County libraries gave out free seeds to people who checked out books on Saturday.
At the Woodville Branch, hundreds received seeds to help get their fall garden started.
There were also cooking classes and experts giving out gardening tips.
One volunteer said growing your own produce can give you a feeling of achievement.
"It gives you a satisfaction of doing something to actually see something go from seed to plant to fruit, or vegetable and then you get to eat it," said Clara Mullins, Master Gardener for Leon County Extension. "A small investment gives you a lot of produce that you can either eat on the table at dinner, lunch breakfast, or you can it and save it for later."
Mullins says most places only have one growing season, but Florida has two.
