LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Continuing it's push to be environmentally friendly, Leon County is introducing the first of many car charging stations.
One station is at the Leroy Collins Main Public Library, but the county is promising others like it will pop up across town.
Leaders chose these locations because its in a central part of town with lots of visitors daily.
We're told these stations will help reduce greenhouse emissions and maybe even inspire you to go green.
The best part, they're free to use.
"Some people might have a barrier to getting an electric vehicle because there might not be a lot of car charging stations, especially ones that are free," said Tessa Schreiner, Recycling and Sustainability Manager. "So Leon County decided to do a pilot program to see how much charging stations might be used."
Officials say the number of electric cars have tripled here in Florida since 2011.
