TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Police say a Leon County inmate punched a nurse in the face after allegedly telling her he wanted to go back to jail.
Myron Wright, 36, was arrested for the offense Sunday at the Apalachee Center.
According to a probable cause document, Wright was originally placed under a Baker Act at the Leon County Detention Center and transported to the Apalachee Center for treatment and evaluation.
The report says that a nurse was trying to give Wright medication when she saw him trying to open a locked door.
Upon seeing him, the nurse told him that he wasn't allowed to go in there. That's when Wright punched her in the face.
Documents say the nurse told him to go back to his room and after, she called the police.
The nurse told police that Wright hit her without provocation and but had told her earlier that he wanted to go back to jail, leading her to believe that's why he assaulted her.
When officers arrived, Wright initially stated he had nothing to say. When asked if he had hit the nurse, Wright replied, "Ya I hit her."
As the officer escorted Wright to the patrol car, documents say Wright spontaneously said that he was trying to get to the treatment room to get the doctor and needed a change of scenery.
Wright was in jail for trespassing and resisting arrest before this most recent arrest.
