LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Leon County is holding it's seventh annual Service Day today.
More than 100 volunteers helped with 20 housing rehab projects in the Oakridge neighborhood.
Vice chairman of county commission, Nick Madoxx attended today's event and says the point of the day of services is to remember the actions of 9/11 and how a nation can come together to do some good:
"To try to remember 9/11 and how a nation came together. I think something like that is very important in times where the nation can seem so separated at times," Maddox explained. "So we're out here doing our part helping, Ms. Green on this joyous day. She's excited about it -- we're excited about it."
