(WTXL) - Nearly one week in, many election supervisors say Florida's new online voter registration system is working smoothly.
This past Sunday, Florida became the 36th state to offer online registration.
So far, hundreds of Floridians have either filled out a new registration online, or updated their information in the system.
Registering online is intended to make the process more accessible and convenient.
Leon County Supervisor of Elections Mark Earley says the number of people registering this week is higher than during a normal week in a non-election year.
He feels online registration will catch many of the simple errors people make when filling out a form.
Legislation requiring the online registration option was signed into law in 2015.
The state has been working with Florida's 67 counties over the past two years to create a secure and user-friendly site.
