TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- Leon County Commissioner Bill Proctor said the shooting at Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston hit close to home.

Having led Bible studies at Bethel AME Church in Tallahassee, Proctor said it could've been him that was the victim of a shooting.

Proctor has urged both the City and County Commission to include in their upcoming agendas a resolution calling for South Carolina to remove the Confederate flag from its state capitol.

"I want to believe that an All-American city would not endorse the presence of a confederate flag," he said. "In that regard, we're an All-american county, and I would think that no American county would want to endorse a flag that represents the symbolism of the pre-Civil War era."
