LEON COUNTY, FL. (WTXL) - Leon County leaders are looking to change how mental health is addressed in the community and what services are needed for those suffering.
Tuesday afternoon, commissioners received a report on local mental health treatment services and a gap analysis. The report found a shortage of residential treatment beds, a need the county says it's working to meet. The report says, more behavioral health beds are needed at the county's three biggest providers: Capital Regional Medical Center, Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare and the Apalachee Center.
The report also found no access to gap insurance in the county for mental health services compared to other parts of the state.
