LEON COUNTY, FL (WTXL) - Leon County Commissioners sent a letter to South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley asking for the removal of the Confederate Flag.
Commissioners say in the letter, "...we join in what has become an almost universal call for the removal from your beautiful state's Capitol grounds, the flag that was the unifying symbol for states supporting the perpetuation of slavery, and the denial and deprivation of citizenship, to African slaves in America during the Civil War."
In the letter, Commissioners also talk about how the Confederate Flag has been been moved to the Florida State Museum with other artifacts from the state's past.
