LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A Leon County spokesman has confirmed that the county's site was hacked this afternoon.
The spokesman, Mathieu Cavell, says that the false content was put up on the county's website Thursday afternoon but was taken down a few minutes after.
While the website was hacked, the Cavell says that it was more about defacing.
They say that the website displayed a message from a group as well as an image. In an abundance of caution, they are running through security procedures.
Cavell says that they are also doing a security patch to make sure it doesn't happen again. They hope to get the county site up again soon.
