TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Affordable housing in Leon County was a hot topic Thursday in City Hall as city and county leaders discussed ways to improve housing opportunities for all residents.

Members of both the city and county commissions reviewed a final report by the Tallahassee-Leon County Affordable Housing Work Group, which includes 17 different community partners.

Their recommendations include creating a leadership council, prioritizing infrastructure projects that promote affordable housing, and finding local funds specific to meeting housing needs.

"The bottom line is that we all work together -- so, the Florida housing groups, the state groups, our local housing authority, the city and the county -- to ensure there there is an adequate mix of housing, so, no matter what your income is, you have an opportunity to live and enjoy a city like Tallahassee," said Scott Maddox, Tallahassee City commissioner.

The report also calls for permanent supportive housing to help end homelessness in Leon County.
