TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Three people are facing drug charges as a result of heroin investigation in Leon County.
The culmination of the undercover operation happened on Thursday, July 11, 2013. That day, the Leon County Sheriff's Office Vice Unit arrested 62-year-old William Marcum, 42-year-old Kenneth Reed, and 44-year-old Jennifer Williams.
The arrests were the result a month long effort, according to the Leon County Sheriff's Office. During the month of June, detectives say they received information that Marcum was selling heroin in Leon County. Undercover detectives reportedly watched Marcum and purchased heroin from him. Marcum, along with Reed, was apprehended during a traffic stop near the intersection of Aenon Church Road and Blountstown highway.
Williams was arrested after meeting with Marcum. Detectives say she was in possession of syringes containing heroin residue.
Marcum and Reed face drug distribution and possession charges; Reed faces an additional charge of driving with a license that was suspended or revoked. Williams faces a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. While Marcum and Reed were taken to jail, Williams was given a notice to appear in court.
Detectives say they seized 22 individual packages of heroin during the investigation.
