TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee woman is out on assault charges after deputies say she tried to run over a man on New Year's Eve.
According to court documents, Leon County deputies responded to a home on Spring Sink Road on Tuesday at 6:40 p.m.
Deputies say the caller, Raushannah Aqeel, 61, wanted them to force the man to leave her house.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they began speaking with Aqeel who admitted that she and the man, who she knew, had been arguing. Aqeel told deputies that the man talks with his hands, which made her very nervous during their argument.
Documents say this led Aqeel to get in her car, put her car in reverse, and attempted to run him over. She said the victim jumped out of the way to avoid being hit.
Aqeel told deputies she wasn't trying to kill the victim but was "trying to scare him because he had been scaring her."
According to documents, Aqeel was arrested and transported to the Leon County Detention Facility. She is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Aqeel has since bonded out.
