TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Leon County Sheriff's Office responded to The Kearney Center for a bomb threat Friday morning.

CESC, the parent organization that oversees The Kearney Center as well as Westgate Community and The Dwellings, says the bomb threat came in after a Friday morning fire drill.

Staff at The Kearney Center were going through a routine fire drill at 8:30 a.m. that was completed "quickly and efficiently."

About 15 minutes later, however, LCSO received a bomb threat for The Kearney Center and notified staff.

"All clients and staff were evacuated to Messer Field at the instruction of the sheriffs," said Monique Ellsworth, Executive Director of CESC, Inc., in a statement regarding the threat. "Once the building was deemed safe, all clients and staff returned to The Kearney Center."

She says no one was injured during the fire drill or the bomb threat evacuation.

“We appreciate the quick response of the Leon County Sheriff’s Office and their ongoing commitment to keep everyone in our community safe,” said Ellsworth.
