LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - If your area has Neighborhood Watch, you may notice some changes.
The Leon County Sheriff's Office said they've reorganized the program to make it easier to function within the community.
If you have a neighborhood watch program your group will meet with LCSO once a year.
A chair person will lead the group and each street will have a 'Block Captain,' to report back any suspicious activity.
"Because we have had a higher crime rate, you know, in some years passed, that we needed to do something, and that was one of, again, the focuses that we wanted to do, is to start making better connections with our neighborhoods, and really reaching out to those citizens and asking them to make those calls of when they see something to say something to us, and that's exactly what crime watch is," said LCSO Deputy Dean Crump.
LCSO said the neighborhood watch program creates great partnerships between the community and the sheriff's office.
They're also trying to work with social media and products like 'Ring' that have recorded videos to keep the community even safer.
