LCSO hosts Farm Share Distribution Event

LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - When power was knocked out after Michael, many Leon County residents the perishable foods in their fridge.  

So Thursday morning, the Leon County Sheriff's Office stepped in with a Farm Share Distribution Event.

They teamed up with the Living Stones Church to feed the community.

"We are a community and when we start talking about fighting crime, crime isn't just about putting people in jail and locking people up, it's about building capacity and capacity  about caring about one another and that's why this is so important we care about the citizens of Leon County," said LCSO Sheriff Walt McNeil. 

LCSO fed over 800 families with 36,000 pounds of food.
