TALLAHASSEE, FL -- A mother-son duo, hailed as heroes for saving a 3-year old from drowning back in June, have now received new recognition.

Leon County Sheriff Walt McNeil honored Severia Heard and her son Colbi with ‘Distinguished Citizen’ awards after the two pulled a 3-year old boy from a pool at The Lakes at San Marcos Apartments in Tallahassee.

The entire ordeal was caught on camera, video that has seen been seen and shared thousands of times.

The 3-year old began breathing shortly before deputies arrived and is now doing fine.

Severia and Colbi also received LSCO coins and SWAT hats for their actions.
