TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - For many families in Leon County, putting food on the table this holiday season will be a little easier.
For many in our community, stocking the fridge and pantry is tough.
"There's always a need throughout the year, you can tell, if people are showing up at midnight, there's a huge need for food and extra food. Making sure people are eating healthy," said Deputy Dave Teems.
LCSO regularly teams up with Farm Share to distribute food to people in need.
"We partner with Farm Share to make sure that the community gets everything that they need and that they see us in a different light. We're not just a uniform and a badge and we show up when something bad happens. We're here to help in every way possible that we can," said Teems.
The help is a load off of the shoulders of many. Now close to 300 families in Leon County have some staples to put on the table this holiday season.
More than 12 thousand pounds of food was handed out on Thursday.
