LEON CO., Fla. (WTXL) - The Leon County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) says two people believed to be responsible for a rash of recent vehicle burglaries are now behind bars.
LCSO Property Crimes Detectives said they received more than fifty vehicle burglary reports since December 2014 involving suspects going into vehicles and stealing valuables, including guns.
A joint investigation between LCSO, the Tallahassee Police Department and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement led to 20-year old Antonio Watson and 19-year old Samuel Branton Jr. being identified as suspects. Warrants were obtained for their arrest.
A spokesperson for LCSO says the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force located Watson and Branton Jr. in Leon County and took them into custody. Both are in the Leon County Jail.
They say detectives have recovered two firearms believed to be stolen during these burglaries.
Watson is charged with burglary and grand theft. Branton Jr. is charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle and three counts of burglary.
LCSO says the investigation continues and more arrests and/or charges are pending.
