TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Leon County School Board is asking parents to weigh in on school calendar options for next year.

Leon County School Board member Rosanne Wood posted up the school calendar options survey on Facebook:

The survey offers up three options for parents to choose from.

Option 1: The first semester will run 86 days and will end on Dec. 21, with 10 winter holiday days. The second semester, which will last 94 days, will pick up on Jan. 8.

Feb. 18 (President's Day) and April 19 (Spring Holiday) are designated as holidays under this option.

Option 2: The first semester will run 84 days and will end on Dec. 19, with 12 winter holiday days. The second semester, which will last 96 days, will pick up on Jan. 8 .

Option 3: The first semester will run 81 days and will end on Dec. 14, with 12 winter holiday days. The second semester, which will last 99 days, will pick up on Jan. 3.

Officials note that the third option is similar to the 2017-18 calendar.

All three options start the school year on Monday, August 13 and end it on Friday, May 31. All designate Sept. 19 as a fall holiday, include a full week off for Thanksgiving for both students and teachers, and include a spring break from March 18-22.

District spokesman Chris Petley says that the parent's vote will help the board make their decision on what to do with the school calendar for next year.

He says the survey is being sent out to parents via listservs and social media.
